Ibiza Rocks, Fearne Cotton, Jaguar Skills, Summer roundup

Photo courtesy of Ricky Allen (rca-photography@hotmail.co.uk)

Yes y'all...

It's been an amazing summer for us this year (despite the rubbish weather) as we released our first official singles, video, compilation features, magazine features, and Radio 1 plays....

------IBIZA ROCKS------

We were lucky enough to have our track 'LAST DAY' featured on the latest Ibiza Rocks compilation... disc 2 track 14 :)

If you've not heard the single yet, listen to clips below...

------JAGUAR SKILLS------

The DJ with ninja-like skills also saw fit to include the track on the 'Jaguar Skills and His Amazing Friends' album that dropped on Ministry Of Sound in August...

------FEARNE COTTON------

Fearne Cotton played 'Duke Dumont feat. Extra Curricular - No Money Blues' on her daytime Radio 1 show.... listen again here (41 mins in)

Alternatively, listen to it on the Turbo Recordings Soundcloud page....

We were really pleased Duke Dumont asked us to be involved in the EP and look forward to doing more work together in the future. Support the Duke and buy from iTunes HERE

-----SUMMER ROUNDUP/MIX-----

Finally, we want to say a big massive thankyou to everyone who made this summer special for us... the promoters, audiences, labels, magazines, and radio shows that have helped us really 'launch' the band this year... we did this little mix for y'all.... yours for free obviously ;)

BBC Introducing Masterclass, Tales of London, Wales Wales, Upcoming Shows

WOW, what a week last week was!!!

First up, Noah and Ruby went down to Abbey Road studios in London to represent Extra Curricular at the BBC Introducing Masterclass event on Thursday Feb 3rd. The above picture is Noah having a go on the 'Gangascope' drum kit that Chase and Status use at live shows!!! During the day they got to meet and talk to world-famous musicians, DJs, and the all-important people behind the scenes that make things happen in the industry. We're really grateful that, out of the thousands of artists registered with BBC Introducing, that we were chosen to go down. I know I speak on behalf of Noah and Ruby when I say that it was a mind-blowing experience for the pair of them.

-------TALES OF LONDON--------

We had an absolute blast playing Vibe Bar on Sunday night. The atmosphere was just full of love and it felt real nice to know that there were so many of our friends, but also brand new faces to welcome us into, what for us, is a new venue. Props to Aly from First Word Records for inviting us down and taking care of us.

Tim Garrud, the newest member of EC did a sterling job of driving the humongous van it takes to transport 9 people and all the live gear - despite London taxi drivers doing their damnedest to steal his parking spaces and block his racing line!

WE ARE BACK IN LONDON ON SAT FEB 19TH, HOOTANANNY, BRIXTON

-------WALES-------

It's been a long time coming but....yes.... we are coming BACK TO WALES!! We've had some spectacular times there and are looking forward to more of the same....

BBC Exclusive And Acoustic Set, Recording News, Myspace Update, Summer Send-Off

Yes yes y'all,

Really fun but very tiring few days here at the EC camp...

---EXCLUSIVE PLAY AND ACOUSTIC SET----

On Thursday we dropped in to BBC Leeds to appear on West Yorkshire's Raw Talent with Alan Raw as part of BBC Introducing. We came straight from mixing one of our brand new tracks and gave Alan the first exclusive play of 'Home'. Later on in the show we played an acoustic set 'Don't Stop', 'Rain', and 'Intoxicating'. We were really pleased with how the show went and we are grateful for the support that the BBC (in particular BBC Leeds) are giving us at the minute!

Listen to the show again here -

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p008944h/West_Yorkshire_Raw_Talent_17_06_2010/

'Home' is played at 1hr5min and the acoustic set starts at 2hr8min. We will try and make the acoustic tracks available to download once the iPlayer link expires.

-----SUMMER SEND-OFF--------

Big thanks to everyone who came to our show at the University of Huddersfield. It was such a pleasure to see such a great mix of familiar and new face and, I'm sure you'll agree, that it was a brilliant way to kick off our summer tour. We love ya Huddersfield!!

-----RECORDING NEWS-----

After appearing on BBC Leeds we dashed back to the studio in Castleford where we have been recording our tracks. We officially finished mixdown at 2am Friday morning - phew! This has been a major undertaking for the band and we'd like to thank Steve Whitfield for recording us, and his endless supply of wasabi peanuts! Nice one.... keep your ears and eyes peeled for news regarding these recordings.

-----MYSPACE UPDATES----

We've updated our pictures on myspace - there are lots of wicked new pictures up of our most recent gigs and some promo shots. Take a look here  http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewAlbums&friendID=328290513

BBC 1EXTRA, Studio news

Hey guys,

Soooo.... we've had a really exciting week this week.

First, we've found out that we're being played in DJ Target's (of ROLL DEEP fame) '100% Homegrown' show on BBC 1Extra this Sunday! The show is on between 7pm-10pm and we should feature somewhere in the middle.

We'll also feature on the 100% Homegrown Podcast which I'll post a link to when it appears. BBC 1Extra is available on the Internet here and through DAB. TVs with freeview or sky etc. can also get the channel.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE when you hear our track (which will be 'RAINBOW SHADES') email in at:

target1x@bbc.co.uk

and say how much you enjoyed listening to it!! :) Or text the show (I'll post the number when it's announced).

----------STUDIO NEWS------------

We've finished recording all the audio tracks so now we begin the long process of editing and mixing. Everything is sounding absolutely amazing and we're super excited about you guys hearing it in due course.

(We will be starting to play this stuff live soon so keep your ears open at shows and you might just hear something ***BRAND NEW*** )

--------------------------------------

Keeping it short and sweet today, I will post more information soon about Sunday and give an updated gig list.

If you haven't already check out our new website at http://www.extracurricularband.com
