Recording Finished, Last Day Singalong, Snaps In Motion

Yes y'all,

It's been a fantastic start to the year, we've already been up and down the country playing shows but, more importantly, we've finished recording our next EP. It's been a few months in the making, but we're super proud of it... aiming for a May release (famous last words!). Check out our SoundCloud if you need an EC fix before then.

--------LAST DAY SINGALONG--------

We've been noticing more and more that audiences are really 'getting' Last Day.... been some awesome singalongs recently, here's one of our favourites from Motion, Bristol earlier in the month.

The rest of the night was just as awesome, here are a few of our favourite pictures....

Also playing on the night were The Correspondents, and The Furious 5 (yes, them ones!), so big shouts to those guys and Funk From The Trunk for making the night so memorable.

We've launched an EC shop where you can check out all the official releases, go check it!

Welcome to 2013, On The Road, No Money Blues

Yes y'all,

A big warm welcome into 2013 from us at EC. We're currently in the studio working on our follow up EP to the Last Day and Won't Stay Down releases we put out last year.

2012 saw us sign our first record deal with DOORLY, sign our first management deal with Finger Lickin' Records, get played on the radio by legends such as Annie Mac and TODDLA T, play on stage with legends such as Tower of Power and Labrinth, play at some of the biggest festivals in the UK, play at some of the sickest venues, shoot our first music video with AshTV Music Video, shoot a TV show pilot with Ont' Sofa (that should be out this month!), meet some amazing talented people, and clock up a fair few thousand motorway miles. We had an absolute ball and want to thank everyone who came to a show, bought our music, or who connected with us on here for making it possible. Not going to be cliched and say 2013 is going to be 'our year', but we're going to try our best to keep making bigger moves and keep improving as a band to make the best music we can.

With that in mind we're eager to get back out on the road and have a few early dates booked in to get the ball rolling:

Looking forward to playing at Hoochie Coochie, The Blind Tiger, and Motion. Also massively looking forward to playing alongside The Correspondents, The Furious 5 (Yes, of 'The Message' and 'White Lines' fame), Tim Westwood in Bristol, and being supported by Bronzehead in Brighton.

-------NO MONEY BLUES-------

Finally, we've been allowed to upload this track from last year. Seems pretty fitting for January's empty pockets. Big up to Duke Dumont on the production!

Released as the lead track on Duke Dumont's 'For Club Play Only' EP, this track racked up club plays all over the World and also featured on many radio shows including:

Radio 1 and 1XTRA: Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Nick Grimshaw, Toddla T, Fearne Cotton, Rob Da Bank, Trevor Nelson.
Kiss: Sinden
XFM: Eddy TM

Best Of Shepherd's Bush Empire, Movember, New CD, Last Shows of 2012

Yes y'all,

Been so busy recently, I've barely found time to get a post together! If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter you'll know why ;)

-------Best Of Shepherd's Bush Empire-------

A few weeks ago we got one of the best phonecalls ever.... The legendary Tower Of Power wanted us to support them at London's prestigious Shepherd's Bush Empire. Needless to say we said 'YES' and loaded our van up for the trip from Leeds to London. It ended up looking a bit like this....

Photos courtesy of Caitlin Mogridge

We'd like to say a massive THANK YOU to Tower Of Power (especially for the shout outs!), all the staff at Shepherd's Bush Empire, and everyone who came through and rocked with us from the first song for an incredible evening. It was the best show of our lives.... so far! ;)

-------MOVEMBER-------

Although we didn't grow facial hair this year, we did our bit for Movember by playing a charity show at Holmfirth Picturedrome. Last we heard £2000 was raised for charity... nice one!

--------NEW CD--------

Pigeonhole This! have very kindly allowed us to produce a VERY limited run of CD's that contain our 2012 singles 'Last Day' and 'Won't Stay Down' including the awesome remixes by Doorly and SpectraSoul. These are only going to be available at LIVE shows, so make sure you try and come see us before they all go!

P.S we're working on the follow up to this right now! ;)

------LAST SHOWS OF 2012------

If you want to get one of these CDs, these are our last shows of 2012!

Ibiza Rocks, Fearne Cotton, Jaguar Skills, Summer roundup

Photo courtesy of Ricky Allen (rca-photography@hotmail.co.uk)

Yes y'all...

It's been an amazing summer for us this year (despite the rubbish weather) as we released our first official singles, video, compilation features, magazine features, and Radio 1 plays....

------IBIZA ROCKS------

We were lucky enough to have our track 'LAST DAY' featured on the latest Ibiza Rocks compilation... disc 2 track 14 :)

If you've not heard the single yet, listen to clips below...

------JAGUAR SKILLS------

The DJ with ninja-like skills also saw fit to include the track on the 'Jaguar Skills and His Amazing Friends' album that dropped on Ministry Of Sound in August...

------FEARNE COTTON------

Fearne Cotton played 'Duke Dumont feat. Extra Curricular - No Money Blues' on her daytime Radio 1 show.... listen again here (41 mins in)

Alternatively, listen to it on the Turbo Recordings Soundcloud page....

We were really pleased Duke Dumont asked us to be involved in the EP and look forward to doing more work together in the future. Support the Duke and buy from iTunes HERE

-----SUMMER ROUNDUP/MIX-----

Finally, we want to say a big massive thankyou to everyone who made this summer special for us... the promoters, audiences, labels, magazines, and radio shows that have helped us really 'launch' the band this year... we did this little mix for y'all.... yours for free obviously ;)

Extra Curricular with Labrinth at Brownstock, Won't Stay Down (FULL).

Yes y'all

We've got one of our biggest festival slots to date coming up this weekend.... we've been asked by Brownstock festival to play on the main stage just before Labrinth, their Saturday night headliner. As you can see from the picture below the rest of the festival features big name acts such as Nero, Zane Lowe, Grandmaster Flash, and The Futureheads.

We're obviously honoured to be asked to perform and will do our best to hype the crowd for the man with the "Earthquake".

-------WON'T STAY DOWN--------

When we first dropped Won't Stay Down on Pigeonhole This! it was described like this.....

DJ Magazine "...epic, life-affirming bass music..."

Flavour Magazine "Beautifully dirty!"

Zane Lowe

Example

After this.... it went to number 11 in the iTunes Electronic chart....

To celebrate our upcoming show at Brownstock we've decided to upload the track IN FULL to our Soundcloud account. Have a listen...

If you like it, please help support the band by purchasing it from iTunes, or Amazon

Last thing.... if you're in the London area this weekend, but are not going to Brownstock we are also playing at the Jamm in Brixton this FRIDAY. Event page HERE
